For Immediate Release

Cleveland, OH, April 17, 2009 – Cleveland Artist to partner with Providence House for Fundraiser.

Local artist Lori Bellman has selected Providence House to be the recipient of a donation totaling 20% of sales from her currently installed Art Exhibit. The Art Exhibit Fundraise may be viewed at Wooltex Gallery, inside the Tower Press Building in Downtown Cleveland.

For her 2009 Art Exhibits, Lori has made a commitment to partner with local charities to give back to the community. Her philanthropic initiative will include selecting a non-profit to partner with on each exhibit, hosting a show in their honor and then donating a portion of the proceeds back to the charity. Lori has selected Providence House for all of the work they do in Cleveland for children in need. Providence House, a 501 c non-profit organization, is a licensed crisis nursery offering emergency shelter to children newborn through five years old actively living in crisis.

Lori works in various mixed media, and this collection simply titled “Texture” focuses on applying use of bold, acrylic colors over textured plaster and (often reclaimed) wood. Since taking her first drawing class in 1998 at Safran Studio in Tremont, Lori has always found volunteering and collaborations with non-profit organizations very rewarding. When asked about teaming up with local charities, Lori stated:

“Artists have a unique opportunity to use their work to benefit of charities like Providence House who rely primarily on private donations. Working with Chris and Meghan from Providence House has been a wonderful experience. They both were receptive to what I wanted to do and thankful that I reached out to them. Any extra time or expenses invested to coordinate this event with them is nominal compared to the much needed assistance for all that they do in our community.”

Wooltex Gallery, located inside Tower Press Building at 1900 Superior Avenue will be the site for this Art Exhibit Fundraiser. Building Owners Dave & Karen Perkowski are also assisting in this charitable effort as they have made available the Wooltex Gallery Space and will waive most of the gallery commission for this particular event, allowing Lori the ability to make a donation from sales to Providence House.

“Having the support of Dave and Karen (Perkowski) for this exhibit makes my charitable

donation possible. Having known Perkowski’s on a business and personal level—they are

longtime supporters of Cleveland, local businesses and of the arts community. Hosting my show at Tower Press just makes sense… Where else can you get a Frida Kahlo or Georgia O’Keefe sandwich and great cup of coffee!” (Referring to Artefino Café inside of Tower Press)

The Artist Reception Event is scheduled for Thursday, May 7 from 4:30 – 8:00 PM. The exhibit is currently up and may be viewed at Wolltex Gallery until May 11th.

Lori Bellman is a commercial and residential artist and has held solo and group exhibits showcasing charcoal, pastels, acrylic and mixed media in both figure and abstract work.
